McIntyre Pickups were conceived

after a frustrating morning spent trying to get a natural sound from a pickup Carl had installed in a customer’s guitar. He had a conversation in the shop that morning with longtime buddy Jack Lawrence, who suggested Carl should make a better acoustic pickup than what was currently available. After amassing all of the sample piezo wafers available, we went through a months-long process of elimination; each piezo was put on a guitar, plugged in, and carefully scrutinized until we heard the one which most naturally reproduced the sound of the instrument. In the final analysis what really determines which instrument sounds great when plugged in? The ears of the listener. Apparently, many players agreed with us and our approach.
