When she met Carl in 1983, Judy thought she would be an English teacher
forever. They married in 1989 and like all wives of luthiers, she occasionally
helped out in the shop with paperwork, sweeping and moral support...especially
at tax time. In 1994, a long-held wish was fulfilled with the birth
of Holly McDougald McIntyre. A real blessing for a couple in their,
ahem, early forties. We made the decision at that time for Judy to come
to the shop and handle the rapidly growing pickup dealer network. The
packaging, processing, and shipping were becoming too much for one man
to handle. Who better than an English teacher to deal with paperwork?
Besides, 16 years of public schools is plenty for anyone. The picture
came into perfect focus when Holly was able to come to work with us
from infancy. We are the ultimate family business. Now the dog–Chico,
the irascible Chihuahua--even comes to the shop with us!
